FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sacramento City Unified School District, the Black Parallel School Board, and the Office of the Independent Monitor Release Updated Action Plan to Advance Student Outcomes

Today, the Sacramento City Unified School District (“SCUSD”), the Black Parallel School Board (“BPSB”), and the Office of the Independent Monitor (“OIM”) jointly announce an updated Action Plan that establishes a refined, data-informed roadmap for continued implementation of meaningful systemic improvements designed to better serve SCUSD students and families, with a focus on supporting Black students and students with disabilities.

The updated Action Plan reflects months of data review, staff and community engagement, and site visits conducted by the OIM in coordination with SCUSD. Through that work, the OIM established baseline measures, clarified implementation priorities, and developed updated data-based outcomes intended to support transparent accountability and sustained progress.

This updated framework focuses on strengthening systems, improving educational access and student supports, and ensuring that implementation efforts are guided by measurable goals, clear timelines, and ongoing evaluation.

SCUSD is now expected to develop an implementation plan to achieve the data-based outcomes outlined in the Action Plan by September 30, 2030. The updated Action Plan can be accessed at https://actionplan.scusd.edu/.
